Mentoring and advice service

For childminders in England

Are you enthusiastic about becoming a childminder but unsure where to begin? Feeling stuck and in need of a boost? Or perhaps you have a pressing question? I'm here to assist you! I provide advice, tips, and ideas to motivate you toward your goal. I can guide you in accessing high-quality training, support tools, and using my professional knowledge to help you prepare for your OFSTED inspection or set up as an OFSTED-registered childminder. Please note, this service is for those wishing to register directly with OFSTED, not through an agency.

My name is Caitlin, and I am the childminder and owner of The Flower Cottage. With 10 years of experience in the childcare sector, my expertise lies specifically in the Early Years field. I started my journey as a full-time student, securing my first job as a Level 3 Nursery Nurse at 17. I continued my studies in the evenings, graduated in higher education, taught abroad, and worked my way up to Deputy Manager before opening my own successful OFSTED Outstanding childcare setting.

After three years of running my business, achieving OFSTED Outstanding status, and becoming a multi-award-winning setting, I aim to give back by sharing my professional knowledge and general advice. Childminding can often feel lonely and overwhelming, and I want to support others on their journey.

General Enquiries:

Please allow up to 48 hours for a response. Advice enquiries are free of charge, and I'm happy to direct you to training opportunities or consultancy agencies that offer in-person training or setting visits.

Mentoring:

One-to-one sessions are available in the evenings between 630 pm and 830 pm, Monday to Thursday. These sessions can be conducted via phone or video call and are priced at £10 per hour. Sessions can be scheduled weekly or bi-weekly.

Availability:

I currently have mentoring spaces available. There is no contract, and you can stop the sessions whenever you feel confident to continue independently.

The advice and information I provide, both in mentoring and general enquiries, are based on my experiences at The Flower Cottage and how I successfully operate my business. While I do not offer training or in-person visits, I am happy to direct you to trusted consultancy agencies and training providers. I am fully insured under the 'Training and Education Policy' with Morton Michel, alongside my general Public Liability Insurance for childminding.
